Changes.

Dear all,
I can’t believe it’s been nearly 10 months since the last time I had a post on CreateH. I have had the most amazing, roller coaster emotional last year of my life, that’s for sure. So many changes. And yet, here I am, at the cusp of a brand new year. I can without hesistation, say that if you asked me January of last year, or even when I wrote my last post if I would be where I am now, I wouldn’t believe you. I’m completely happy with all of the changes, and so excited for what might come in 2012. So here’s what’s happened since the last time I saw you.
This fall, I packed my bags and my apartment up, and moved to Boston, MA. I accepted a promotion and I now work in the Boston Design Center, as a Design Account Executive for Sherwin-Williams. I’ve been with them for almost three years now, and I can’t even begin to describe how happy I am here. (And they didn’t pay me to say that!). I now work with architects, designers and decorative artists to sell our brand and manage our showroom here at the BDC so designers can access swatches and tools while they shop.
I now live in Boston, which is 7.5 hours from Rochester, where I am from. It’s been interesting, gaining a new social circle and exploring the city, and I’ve been here for a month now. I have access to SO much, from stores like Crate and Barrel, to West Elm, and all the showrooms at the BDC, that I never would have been able to see in Rochester. My apartment is an adorable two room studio in East Boston with gorgeous hardwood floors, big windows, lots of light and a huge kitchen (of course!). I’m still settling and getting it decorated, but pictures will come soon.
As for the blog, expect more common posts, I expect to get into a routine soon. I’ll be applying to grad school in the spring, hopefully for marketing, since that’s primarily what I do. I can’t wait to see what 2012 brings!

Seriously. Wait till you see this. I can’t even put into words how many design ideas I’m stealing, how much I love the use of different shades of gray throughout the house, the collectibles that make it look lived in, the built in bookshelves?!! the lighting…the accent wall- holy canoli. I’m having a heart attack of love. feel free to drool with me.

Being an employee of Sherwin-Williams, I get asked a lot of questions. It’s okay, that’s our motto. However, a lot of times I get asked my opinion. I know neutral beiges have been and will be popular, but I am in love with gray. IT’S the new beige. “Greige”. I’m loving these warm neutrals, and it seems to work in so many interiors and look chic with whatever accent color you put with it. It’s not dull or dismal, but actually looks super amazing with cool gray blues, orange, yellow, lime, bright red, brown, black and more. Check it out here!

FAIL {design edition}

Ever seen a design fail? I love interior design photography, it’s like decor porn. Believe me, it’s awesome. Sometimes, I get frustrated that some interiors don’t appear lived in, but the worst is when they physically can’t be. Like this chair.

It just screams WTF.
I’m all for antiques, and for putting things out for being pretty, but this is just wrong. It’s an excuse to get stuck, bump into it in the dark, and it’s really not that great. Put a cushion in it honey, and call it a day. That’s not a chair, it’s a cruel joke waiting to happen.

Please pardon my pun. I had to show you all the gorgeous decorating images I’ve been collecting. Perhaps it was the warmer weather last week, or the sun peeking out, but I’m starting to feel a renewed interest in my blog, following my dreams and sharing my passion for interiors. Winters are tough, I suppose. However, bright pops of color are showing up in the blogosphere and here are my favorites.

Finally home from work, and I came in the door smiling because my flowers from Valentine’s Day are now completely in full bloom. These are not my flowers, but they are gorgeous nonetheless. I just had to share. Nothing like smelling fresh flowers….

{Romantical Decorating} Pink & Gold, Sparkles & Champagne

I love pretty pinks, golden confetti and champagne stilettos. Old mercury glass, ballet slipper pinks, and sparkle galore. I can’t get enough, especially with Valentine’s Day coming up. I’m a sparkly silver belt, whimsical pink skirt and white tank top kind of girl, maybe some extra sparkly shoes. I’m good with flowers all around, a dove chocolate bar (just 75 cents and 200 calories!) and pearls, and of course, my man. But I’m good with staring at these photographs to remind me of the reason I look forward to every February. (Besides my half birthday!) haha. (It’s feb. 29th. in case you need to know, or…send presents.)

How to decorate with animal print {classy edition}

Animal print is everywhere. It’s on the blogs I view for fashion, the packaging of my make up products, shoes, Jersey Shore, and even in interior design. I believe it IS possible to have your home be classy, fabulous and chic, and still have animal print. This can be achieved with without looking like you have walked into Hannah Montana’s house, or a safari tour. I do believe in adding small accent pieces, like a throw, a pillow or a cute lampshade. I do believe in mixing and matching patterns. I do NOT believe in making your home look like Out of Africa and having dead animals on your walls. I have a velvet chaise lounge that is wrapped in a small leopard print. I also have snow leopard pillowcases and a zebra throw. And a zebra boyfriend pillow. However, I love animal print. You don’t have to have as much as me. Even a towel is cool. Try it.

Tonight I’ve been browsing my favorite blogs, and a pattern seemed to emerge. White textures, pearls, sparkle and shine. Lush chenilles, ruffles, silk and cozy down comforters….mhmm. Mixed with soft blue grays, dolphin gray and nantucket beige. Here’s some gorgeous photographs that show this, and what I’m inspired by. And a new look for CreateH for 2011. I’m thinking a new header, new background color and a new logo:) What do you think?

Why, Hello 2011.

I guess it’s a little late to say hello to 2011, but maybe I’m just catching up. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a great big inspiration post on here, and frankly, I haven’t found much inspiration in design lately. It’s been my hope that 2011 will pull me back to my roots, back to design, and back to daily blogging.
I found that color, the pattern and common denominator in my passions, kept coming up in unexpected places. I found it in pigment, of eyeshadow, blushes and make up, and in wedding gowns, table centerpieces and flower arrangements. I found that starting two new blogs, Head Over Heels (Weddings) and Beauty and the Bourgeois (Beauty & Make up) were great ways to channel my passions for color in a new and refreshing way, without completely taking myself out of the blogosphere.
Don’t get me wrong. I love CreateH, and I’m determined to put more time into the blog again, posting more often and making some great changes. I have high expectations and aspirations for my blog, and I can’t wait to take you all with me.
